The Last 30 Seconds of an Ant’s Life July 26, 2005

It took just 5 minutes between me taking my tray of sushi out of the fridge for it to get completely covered in ants!

Thai architecture defines itself by consistently overlooking huge gaps behind cupboards, toilets and baths where ants make themselves at home.

On reflex I threw my sushi tray into my water heater and was quite amazed to discover an interesting lesson in myrmecological survival.

You Do Care Blog Site [Started Today] July 15, 2005

The wonderful You Do Care site is now my main job.

I’m REALLY enjoying it. Firstly it’s a chance to improve on every mistake I’ve made elsewhere. The concept itself of purchasing gifts is really interesting and there’s such an incredible selection of novel gift ideas out there. The challange though is how to make my site better and higher ranked than other sites….

Welcome to my You Do Care Blog Site. Not only will the site be a pleasure to update but it’s designed to give me loads of text-rich keywords for indexing. I’m going to commit to a minimum of 10 blogs a week and the style will be light, and I hope practical.

I expect that I’ll be spending significant time updating the site but, as I enojy writing blogs it’s something to look forward to.

UWT4Me is Updated! July 15, 2005

United World Telecom 4 Me is now completed.

I designed it in January so the delay caused endless headaches and has possibly set me back by as much as 4 months.

I’m pleased to say that I’m very happy with it and that my designers have done an excellent job. If you visit the June Archive here you can see how the site has developed.

The cosmetics are not really the main improvement and a host of labor-saving back-end features are lovely.

Needless to say I’m very pleased with it. I’ve had a few intensive days marketing it and will do some continual SEO work but I don’t plan to spend more than 2 hours a week replying to filtered emails and updating the FAQ pages.

I can now stay focused on developing You Do Care.

Your feedback’s appreciated, expecially if you find any bugs.

Change of Itinerary! July 13, 2005

No major problem, but our itinerary for our UK holiday is now completely different. After confirming our previous flight we were telephoned and told that we were under-quoted by 160 quid per ticket so we found something cheaper.

Below is out 100% confirmed itinerary, not subject to change. We have the tickets in our hands already.

I Love Skype July 8, 2005

I have fallen in love with Skype.

Skype is a messenger program similar to Microsoft Messenger or Yahoo Messenger however it is designed especially for voice calls. You can use it with your PC microphone and Speakers or with a computer telephone.

I am so impressed by the call quality that I’ve disconnected my land-line phone and have Skype connected all the time. I have now got a SkypeIn number which gives me a UK 0207 telephone number my friends can call and it will connect directly through to my Skype account. The service also includes free voicemail too.

Skype-to-Skype phone calls are completely free and Skype-to-telephone calls are cheaper than any service I can offer.

The telecom market is going to face an inevitable shakeup and these free services are going to impact everybody.

Make the most of it; get a Skype account and we can chat for free.

How to Spot an English Teacher July 7, 2005

English teachers in Bangkok are fairly easy to spot. I think I’ve discovered why.

I used to teach English in Bangkok for about 2 years and I enjoyed it. The teaching species here are interesting and there’s some great and very professional teachers here.

Conversely there’s a lot of teachers who aren’t so professional and they are easy to spot a mile away. I was in Siam Square – the geographical and shopping capital of Bangkok and suddenly it dawned on me exactly why lower-salaried (is that the political correct term) teachers stick out …

It’s all in their shirts …

Goodbye Clarity Calls July 4, 2005

Goodbye to Clarity Calls which I have decided not to renew the domain for. The site was my own branding of a callback service which did not live up to expectations.

I’m starting up new websites weekly so this loss won’t make an iota of difference to anything.

My 26th Year: Making some plans July 1, 2005

Goal setting is the business-credible way of basically sitting down and daydreaming in formal language.

It’s always fun and I like to realign my reality with what I really should be doing once in a while.  Since nobody else is going to take an interest I though I’d interview myself.
