Returning to Khon Kaen, Udon Thani and Khao Yai September 24, 2005
Posted by Martin in : Thailand , add a commentIt has been more than 2 weeks since I last saw Tik so I took some time to visit her up north. A flight to Khon Kaen is not especially expensive but I decided this time to take the 6-hour coach journey instead. I’m quite a comfortable traveler and in many ways I prefer to be sitting on a coach for 6 hours than having to move around at the airport, checkin in, waiting in the departure lounge, sitting on the plane, getting off, retrieving luggage etc.
UK Diaries Completed September 23, 2005
Posted by Martin in : travel , 1 comment so farI’ve finally finished my UK-related diary entries. I have pre-dated them so that you will only notice them if you navigate back to the August sections of the diary.
For those of you a little blog-illiterate I’ve pasted below the main articles in order…

A very weird email! September 21, 2005

Enlightened September 19, 2005
Posted by Martin in : Business , add a commentI returned to Bangkok full of enthusiasm and joy for life. It lasted about a week. I heartily greeted Thai residents with a big smile and engaged everybody I could in light-hearted conversation.
One of my Favourite Blog Sites September 18, 2005
Posted by Martin in : Creative / Humour , add a commentIf you enjoy reading really fun, inspiring and creative personal blog sites then I highly recommend Marn’s Big Adventure.
I’ve been following the life of Marn, an elderly overweight lady with the most wonderful love of life and energy that I’m sure you’ll appreciate her writings too.
I Think I might stay home today! September 18, 2005
Posted by Martin in : Thailand , add a commentSuprisingly I like the rainy season here. I’ve got my lovely waterproof jacket, my waterproof boots, waterproof trousers and at the first boom of thunder I love transforming myself into an aqua-tolerant superhero with the power to splash through deep puddles.
Last Wednesday we had an entire day of rain. Usually tropical storms here last perhaps 3-4 hours. We get a torrential downpour and usually a few hours after that things are all dried up.
Today it looks like we might be in for something a bit more severe …
A New Beginning September 9, 2005
Posted by Martin in : Business, Thailand , add a commentI’ve returned to Bangkok very much on a clean slate. I’ve finally achieved my goal of having my telecom businesses run themselves and during the last three weeks I’ve literally spent only a few minutes in total on them with a quick email here and there. Now that the backend of the new United World Telecom site automates everything for me I’m free to use all my time to do something new, exciting and different.
Too dumb to live? – not in Bangkok September 7, 2005
Posted by Martin in : Business , add a commentI hate calls from telecom clients who complain “I can’t use the service”. This has got to be the vaguest description for a customer support person to ever deal with. It takes minutes trying to wean the information out of people, trying to break down as many assumptions as you possibly can, trying not to patronize people with “is your phone switched on” etc.
Today I spent 20 minutes on the telephone to a person like this.
Brunel – James Bond’s University September 7, 2005
Posted by Martin in : Education , 1 comment so farI graduated from Brunel University in North West London. I got a lot from my course and really enojoyed life there.
I chose to study at Brunel largely because I wanted to study business yet I really didn’t want a typical ‘Business Studies course’ and Brunel offered an interesting ‘Management Science’ degree.
It’s a little sad that Brunel doesn’t get much recognition internationally and these days I just tell people I studied in London if they ask me, but Brunel has got a lot of publicity on BBC news for the intuitiveness of their Engineers. It seems Like Brunel’s real claim to fame lies in it’s students contributions to life’s most fundamental necessities;
New Photos Added September 7, 2005
Posted by Martin in : travel , 1 comment so farOk, I’ve finally got the photos uploaded. Sorry for the delay but I got myself into a muddle with categorizing everything.
In hindsight I really should have plopped everything into a ‘UK 2005 Holiday’ album but instead I’ve split photos between quite a few sections to confuse myself.
Nearly all of our time in England was spent with family so most of he photos are in the family section of the site. I’ve deliberately not named anybody or titled the photos because I personally don’t need the memory aid, so I’m sorry if you see somebody hot who you want to know more about.
Anyway, without too much pomp and ceremony I present you with 89 brand-spankingly new photos.
Ok Ok, I’m back September 7, 2005
Posted by Martin in : Thailand , add a commentSure, call me lazy for all I care but I’ve decided to finally update the site since leaving for a 3 week holiday.
Sorry for not updating it whilst I was in the UK but my ‘X’ and ‘V’ buttons on my laptop keyboard bust and as I was unable to write about ‘very voluptuous sexy vixen’ I resolved to spend my time enjoying myself and de-toxing from the PC and from my cellphone.
Nonetheless I’m back and I’ll upload all the lovely pictures I have in just a few minutes.
Keep on reading …
